What is WWF?

The World Wide Fund (WWF) an international non-governmental organization working on issues regarding the conservation, research and restoration of the environment. It is the world's largest independent conservation organization with over 5 million supporters worldwide, working in more than 100 countries, supporting around 1300 conservation and environmental projects around the world. Its mission is "to halt and reverse the destruction of our environment ". Much of its work focuses on the conservation of three biomes that contain most of the world's biodiversity: forests, freshwater ecosystems, and oceans and coasts. Among other issues, it is also concerned with endangered species, pollution and climate change.

92% of all money given to WWF is channeled into developing, driving and delivering conservation results. The rest goes on administration costs. In the US, WWF has received the highest 4-star rating from Charity Navigator.

By 2020 WWF will conserve 19 of the world's most important natural places and significantly change global markets to protect the future of nature.
