World Without Genocide: Protect. Prevent. Prosecute. Remember. Together, we can eliminate injustice and create a world without genocide.
World Without Genocide works to protect innocent people around the world; prevents genocide by fighting racism and prejudice; advocates for the prosecution of perpetrators; and remembers those whose lives and cultures have been destroyed by violence. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Friend,
Genocide. This word was used by our government in 2004 to describe the catastrophe happening in Sudan’s Darfur region. Today, more than five years later, there is no end in sight. Hundreds of thousands of innocent men, women, and children have died and more than 2.5 million people are homeless.
The words "Never again,” uttered after the horrors of the Holocaust, have come to mean ‘over and over again.’ After the Holocaust it was Cambodia, then Bosnia, Rwanda, and now Darfur. We all must take a stand to make ‘never again’ mean ‘never.’
World Without Genocide needs your vital support to continue educating about global atrocities, advocating for the prosecution of perpetrators, and supporting efforts to protect innocent civilians.
Genocide is an evil without boundaries. It is not confined to people of any religion, race, place, or time. Over the past century, the following genocides have affected millions of people worldwide, from Europe to Africa to Asia: Armenia, The Holocaust, Cambodia, Bosnia, Rwanda, Darfur. The list does not end there--today conflicts in Burma, Sri Lanka, and the Democratic Republic of Congo have killed and displaced millions of innocent people. They might not be named "genocides" yet, but they still demand our attention and our help. Our government, and indeed the world, did not intervene to prevent those genocides. We have a moral imperative to eradicate the evil of genocide.
On behalf of all those affected by genocide, please support our work to protect innocent people, prevent genocide, prosecute the perpetrators—and remember those whose lives and cultures have been destroyed by genocide.
Sincerely,
Ellen J. Kennedy, Ph.D.
