  • Wilderness Classroom's current project: the North American Odyssey
  • The North American Odyssey is a 3 year, 11,700 mile journey across North America by kayak, canoe, and dogsled.
  • Students love to meet our sled dogs and our sled dogs love to meet the students.
  • Sharing expedition equipment with students is an important part of our school presentations.
  • Students were thrilled to see photos and video of this encounter we had with humpback whales along the Alaska coast.
  • Students use teamwork to pull our very heavy dogsled.
  • Solar panels enable us to charge our electronics and connect with the 70,000 students following the expedition.
  • Students from St. Mary's School in Riverside, IL have been following Wilderness Classroom expeditions since 2001.

  • This is one the many dogsled rides for students in Whati, Northwest Territories.
  • This student is ready to hit the water in all of our kayaking safety gear.
  • We use examples from the trail, like dogsledding through a blizzard, to teach students about setting and achieving goals
  • Dave and Amy Freeman have spent the past 10 years introducing students to wild places, from the Amazon to the Arctic.

In conjunction with the extraordinary non-profit Wilderness Classroom Organization, please join NYSE Shares and NYSE’s very own Wall Street Meets Wilderness Movement as we paddle down the meandering Wading River in New Jersey’s Pine Barrens State Forest!
