FUNDRAISER FOR NONPROFITS DISPLACED BY WALKER CHURCH FIRE
In response to Sunday’s fire at Walker Community United Methodist Church, the Headwaters Foundation for Justice has started an emergency fundraising effort for nonprofits formerly housed at the church.
This Walker Nonprofit Recovery page has been established to assist in the transition efforts of the three small social justice nonprofits that were tenants of Walker Church. Beneficiaries include Communities United Against Police Brutality, the Minnesota Immigrant Rights Action Committee, and the Welfare Rights Committee. Contributions are tax-deductible.
“The fire destroyed much of the physical and administrative infrastructure of these organizations,” said Headwaters Executive Director Trista Harris, “but it did not destroy the community that has grown up around their work. It is time for us to show our support for their past efforts by helping them rebuild for the future.”
