Donate a minimum of $15 for your application to be considered. Funds go to feeding centers in Nueva Vida to help children like Blanca below.

Why is Nicaraguan Orphan Fund (VTNOF) requiring an application donation fee this year in order to be considered for the Spring Break Trip?

It’s simple - We love the children of Nueva Vida! Nueva Vida is a hurricane refugee camp in Managua Nicaragua. The refugee camp had been in existence since hurricane Mitch wiped out many homes and neighborhoods in 1998. Twelve years later, families are still there. Living in shacks built from trash and metal scraps, most individuals are making less than a dollar a day. More importantly, most children eat no more than one meal a day. However, there is light. Verbo Church of Nuerva Vida started a feeding center almost five years ago to feed some of the children of Nueva Vida. Five years ago they had one feeding center, only serving about 200-300 kids a day. But today, thanks to the support from many churches, organizations and individual donors, there are over 6 feeding centers - feeding over 2,300 kids per day, 5 days a week. Verbo church also serves as a refuge for many children in the community. This is an accomplishment that God has blessed greatly.

These children, who have little material possessions and little hope of ever leaving Nueva Vida have captured our hearts. With an increased interest in the Spring Break Trip this year, we are taking advantage of an opportunity to serve these children by raising financial support.

Thank you for helping them!

*Please Note* While you are more than welcome to donate more than $15 (Please feel free to send this page to relatives, friends etc.) Extra monetary donations will have no bearing in the application acceptance process. Additionally, due to the limited number of people we can take on the trip, we expect to have more applicants than spots. Please keep this in mind when you are filling out the application, especially the short answer section. Our goal is to pick applicants who have a love of children and a desire to make a difference one child at a time. We are also looking for applicants who could potentially help lead NOF in the future. Prior experience, language level, or seniority will not necessarily give you priority. Do not make your donation anonymous, we need to know who has donated! You will be e-mailed a tax deductable receipt the day of your donation.

So whether or not you end up going on the trip, by donating you have already helped these kids that we know and love. Just $15 will feed a child for a month!

All money is going directly through ORPHANetwork, our parent organization, and then on to the feeding centers in Nueva Vida!
