We are the volunteers that are supporting Team 65 Roses.
Dear Friends and Family:
This appeal is on behalf of the patients and families that suffer with cystic fibrosis. Cystic Fibrosis is the most common fatal hereditary disease in the United States. It is a disorder of the cells that line the lungs, small intestines, sweat glands and pancreas. Sticky, thick mucus contributes to the destruction of lung tissue and prevents nutrient absorption in the small intestine. While treatment therapies continue to advance, there is no cure.
I am volunteering with Team 65 Roses in the Georgia Marathon on March 20th. The money I raise will go to two CF charities: Cystic Fibrosis Foundation www.cff.org and Cystic Fibrosis-Reaching Out Foundation www.reachingoutfoundation.org
On February 24, 2011, The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Vertex Pharmaceuticals announced that VX-770, an oral medicine in development that targets the defective protein that causes cystic fibrosis, showed promising results in a Phase 3 clinical trial. This is the first exciting news that the CF community has received in a long time. Your donation will help fund this very important research.
In addition, the Cystic Fibrosis-Reaching Out Foundation provides financial resources through healthcare and social workers who are familiar with the unique medical and social needs of families affected by CF. Many of the patients are unable to afford the new treatments that are offered but Reaching Out is always there to help.
Your contribution is, of course, tax deductible. I appreciate your consideration of a donation to this very worthy cause. No amount is too large or too small. You can make a payment right here online OR You can mail your check directly to:
