The Ronald McDonald House is a popular community service spot for Sigma Lambda Beta and Sigma Lambda Gamma. Now they want to help even more.

Two of the University of Minnesota's most ethnically diverse fraternities and sororities joined forces on Sept. 3, 2011 to volunteer for the Cooks for Kids program at the Ronald McDonald House Inside Children's Hospital.

Families who have critically ill children find themselves spending days, weeks or months at the hospital hoping for a positive outcome. During that time, trying to eat a nice home-cooked meal isn't usually feasible for the people who have to spend all that time inside the hospital walls.

But when volunteers come in and cook meals, it provides the families with a sense of comfort.

However, making the time commitment to volunteer and cook meals can be difficult for some people. That's why GiveMN.org is so great because it makes it easy for anyone to make financial contributions to the Ronald McDonald House.

Money that people donate would go toward general operating costs for the facility, stocking the food pantry and purchasing any additional supplies for the house itself or for the families to use.

The Ronald McDonald House counts on individuals for nearly 75% of its funding to support families. That's why your gift is so important.
