Campaign to remember our honored veterans who have become homeless, jobless and hungry; and need a "Hand-Up" for a new start in life.
Our military personnel make great sacrifices in order to protect our country and others who are less fortunate around the world. They work long hours and spend extended periods of time away from their families to fight for the freedoms that allow us to enjoy freedom and the way of life to which we’ve grown accustomed. Our freedom comes at the price paid by our veterans.
Some of our honored veterans have returned home from duty and have faced hardships and have encountered and endured joblessness and homelessness. The Los Angeles County Homeless Count data has determined that 19% of the homeless are veterans. Los Angeles currently has 11% of the nation’s total homeless veteran population. We have joined the National Coalition of Homeless Veterans initiative to end homelessness for veterans in the next five years.
Because I am a veteran and I recognize the debt of gratitude we all owe to our veterans, I’ve decided to get involved by organizing Vets On The Move Foundation a charitable non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, to assist and to raise money to provide much needed emergency and temporary housing and support services for our men and women and their loved ones, who have served in the military. Last year, we served fifty veterans and their families in housing referral and placement; job development and support services. The last two years and this year, I am attending the National Coalition of Homeless Veterans (NCHV) Annual Conference, in Washington.D.C., and also to meet with various government officials; to speak out about chronic veteran homelessness in our region and to advocate for increased veteran housing resources in the Los Angeles Area.
Demand for emergency housing and the support services that are needed are increasing due the current economic environment. Yet, many think that all veteran’s basic needs are already covered because of their service. That’s why I’m asking you for help. I feel so strongly about Vets On The Move Foundation’s work that I’m reaching out to all proud American citizens to request financial support.
We need your help: Won’t you join us and consider making a donation of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) to show your support and appreciation? Of course you may contribute more, but if you cannot meet the $100 donation level, any gift you can share will be used to make life better for those who have dedicated their lives to protecting our freedoms and may be in need of a hand up to get their life off to a new start. Please visit our website at www.vetsonthemove.org to learn how you can make a difference, or submit your tax-deductible contribution now by selecting your donation level to process your gift electronically.
Thank you in advance for your generous donation and recognition of the important contributions our troops and veterans have personally made to our great nation.
