On behalf of both Virginia Road Elementary School and Kensico School PTAs in the Valhalla School District, we welcome you to be a part of an exciting new event for our school children. This spring, we will be hosting the First Marathon! The kick-off event will on March 23rd and participants will complete 26.2 miles by the final event on June 1st. The Marathon will encourage children to be healthy and active in our community.

Grades K-5: Walk/run/bike 26.2 miles in 10 weeks, which will be about 2.6 miles in one week.

Did you know …. one mile equals:

• Four full laps around Viking Stadium
• Legion Drive (from top to bottom)
• Corner of Legion Dr/Columbus Ave. to Kensico Dam entrance
• Sir John’s Plaza to Kensico Dam entrance
• Grass rectangle quad at Kensico Dam (2 ¼ times around)
• Round trip from Pat’s Deli to Westlake Drive.

FUNDRAISING

The VRES and Kensico PTA have a goal of earning at least $10,000 from this Marathon to support school programs

Please remember to contact your employers for possible matching fund donations (100% of donations are tax-deductible).

Donations and pledges can be for each mile or a lump-sum donation.

Each child is encouraged to collect donations, which are due June 1st.
