UHCAN was founded in 1992 to be a national network of state, local and national organizations and coalitions working for health care for all around multiple approaches and with diverse constituencies across the country.

• UHCAN connects local and state health care advocacy coalitions with each other and with the state affiliates of large national organizations across the full spectrum of health care advocacy. We do this through national confernce calls, email alerts, field work and direct outreach.
• UHCAN promotes dialogue and provides tools to help groups working for health care for all around diverse approaches to find common ground, minimize tensions over differences, and become more effective by working better together.
