Women have been systemically used as weapons of war in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the DRC. They have been gang raped, tortured, mutilated, and forced to watch their husbands and children murdered in front of them as a result of the war there. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has called the sexual violence in the Democratic Republic of the Congo "one of mankind's greatest atrocities."* The war in the DRC is now the world's deadliest conflict since World War II.
