United Way of North Central Florida was founded in 1957 (as United Way of Alachua County) to increase the organized capacity of people to care for one another. United Way organizes experienced community volunteers to raise and distribute Community Care Fund contributions to local human care agencies. We also provide community support, promote community collaboration and offer technical assistance to non-profit organizations. We support a variety of local human service agencies that touch the lives of thousands of people in our community. These local agencies provide invaluable services including hot, nutritious meals to homebound seniors; shelter and safety for victims of domestic violence; emergency relief for families in need; and safe after-school activities for children.
