United Cerebral Palsy of Central Minnesota
United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) is dedicated to enriching the quality of life for people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities.
Being able to communicate with family, friends, and co – workers makes a huge difference in the lives of persons living with cerebral palsy. For over 56 years, UCP of Central Minnesota serves people who live with the daily challenges of a disability. Whether it is using an augmentative communication device, or the use of a computer through our Computers Go Round program, this communication provides learning, social, and employment opportunities. We’re all about independence and self – sufficiency. We serve individuals with all types of disabilities - not just cerebral palsy.
UCP provides financial assistance for specialized equipment; public education, scholarships for post – secondary education; and refurbished computers and loan and demonstration of assistive technology devices. UCP-CM is supported by contributions from individuals, corporations, special events and United Way. Our special events include a stationary bike race and annual golf outing.
Did you know... • About 1/2 of children with CP are born prematurely • 1 in 9 people with CP have features of Autism • 6 out of 10 people with CP have normal or superior intelligence • 1 in 3 children cannot walk • More boys are born with CP than girls (for every 100 girls, there are 135 boys)
