We are raising money for the 52 orphans cared for at the newly built CCMC orphanage in Uvira, Democratic Republic of Congo
In June 2011, a team of 13 from National Community Church in Washington, DC traveled to work with the Congo For Christ Missionary Church (CCMC) orphanage in Uvira, Democratic Republic of Congo. We fell in love with the staff, the villagers, and church members. But most of all, we fell in love with the children: 52 orphans cared for by CCMC and many many children from the neigboring village.
Although many of us on the original team plan to return to Uvira in June 2012, we wanted to do something for the orphans now, while we wait. We decided we would run the Tough Mudder obstacle race in Virginia on October 23, 2011 (http://toughmudder.com/events/virginia/). We are not doing this because we are crazy (although that is likely true as well), but because we hope our craziness will inspire our friends, family, and anyone else to contribute to support our friends, the orphans at CCMC.
Our fundraising goal is $3,808 for a very specific reason:
- $2000 for legal fees, so CCMC can gain offical caregiver status over the orphans
- $1808 for school fees, so each of the 52 orphans can attend school and have a chance to gain an education that will allow them to support themselves and their community upon graduation.
Please help us help these wonderful children!
