For those who know me, they would say "She's doing what?!??!" Yup. Its true. I have lost my marbles and signed up for a 1/2 marathon. The thing is, I don't run. I don't really exercise much. My body aches and I stand for hours at work. But on April 1, 2011, I recieved the best gift life can give. A sweet baby girl.

I went through complications from delivery and for the first time in my life was hospitalized for 8 days. What surprised me wasn't the rare complication. It was that I was SO glad that I was the one to endure the pain and my baby was healthy. I knew then, if there was anything I could do to prevent my child from going through being ill, I would do it in a heartbeat.

Needless to say, Dana added me to the facebook group "Calebs Crusade". I watched posts about the Disney Marathon and I just felt in my heart I had to do it.

If running 13.1 miles means that another child doesn't have to feel pain because there is a cure, I'll run.

Or if running 13.1 miles means that a family can have the finacial support they deserve in a time of need, I'll run for that too.

So I will train. I will sweat. I may pass out on the pavement and kick myself for signing up.

But when I run through the "happiest place on earth", I'll hopefully be making it a healthier place for children, one mile at a time.
