I’m going to be running in the Boston Marathon and raising money for the kids at the Boys & Girls Club! I hope you will support me!
In March of 2011 I ended up at the gym once again wishing I was in better shape and began small steps towards a healthier lifestyle. I started walking and biking and then one day I ran a mile. It was totally unplanned and unexpected but I haven't stopped since. I did the "Couch to 5k" and then kept going to eventually complete the 2012 BAA half marathon. I've lost 55 lbs so far and I can't remember ever feeling this good.
Now, I’m going to be running in the 117th Boston Marathon on Monday, April 15, 2013 and I’ve set out to raise money for the Boys & Girls Club!
I grew up going to the South Boston Boys & Girls Club and I'm grateful to have had the Club as a safe place to go after school. One of the biggest lessons I learned as a kid came from being a "Player of the Month" at the Club. I didn't achieve it by winning anything, but by participating in every tournament that month no matter how i finished. I think of this often while I'm training and need to focus on my efforts and not on perfect results.
I would never commit to the amount of time and energy it takes to train to run 26.2 miles or ask anyone to donate to this cause if it weren't extremely important to me. I can’t think of a more worthy charity than the Boys & Girls Club. Every day Clubs like this one allow kids to think bigger, grow stronger and become the people they dream of.
Please make a gift to the Club that will provide quality educational programs and athletic activities to kids so that they are equipped with the crucial skills needed to become healthy, fit and successful adults.
A donation, of any amount, will help!
Thanks for visiting and thank you VERY much for your support of my Boston Marathon run!
