Think Humanity is constructing wells in Uganda.
Think Humanity together with Kats Construction has constructed two wells in Kyangwali Refugee Camp and three wells in Kyaka II Refugee Camp. We recently constructed a well in Hoima near the Morning Star Christian School and repaired a borehole in Nalweyo in Kibale District.
We are ready to build and repair more as soon as we get funding. Each well has been an average of approximately $3,250.
"Everyday people walk from far distances to get water and when they arrive they wait in long lines. When it is difficult to walk long distances, people are getting water from nearby springs where they share water with animals." - Emmanuel NsabimanaOur next well to construct is near the Moonlight Primary School in the Village of Buhanika. This is a poor rural community not too far from our headquarters in Hoima, Uganda. There are 2,000 people and they walk four miles from the village to fetch water. The people suffer.
We also see a huge need to repair more boreholes in Nalweyo, Kibala District. This is another rural community that suffers. We have repaired one borehole, but there are three more to repair and also four wells.
Think Humanity and Kats would also like to construct a well in Karwabuhire and Kanenakumba Villages and a well in Hoima near the TH Girls' Hostel.
"1.1 billion people lack access to drinking water."
“Unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation cause 80 percent of all sickness and disease, and kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war.
Many people in the developing world, usually women and children, walk more than three hours every day to fetch water that is likely to make them sick.
Those hours are crucial, preventing many from working or attending school.” – Charity Water
