Help senior citizens and military families remain in their homes and prevent disastrous credit ratings for students.

The Better Business Bureau of Minnesota and North Dakota (BBB) is proud to operate a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt educational foundation whose charitable purpose is to educate consumers about prevalent scams and prevent financial fraud. Continually evolving to respond to the marketplace, the top two 2011-2012 goals of the BBB Foundation are to:

  1. Provide increased educational resources for senior citizens and students and
  2. Implement new programming customized for military families.

To ensure the continued free availability and expansion of these important educational resources for consumers in our community, we are inviting individual, corporate and foundation donors to invest in our work. Please consider making a simple and secure tax deductible donation to the BBB educational foundation to protect at-risk consumers in our community.

The mission of the BBB’s 501(c)(6) organization is "to be the leader in advancing marketplace trust." The BBB accomplishes this by:

  • Creating a community of trustworthy businesses
  • Setting standards for marketplace trust
  • Encouraging and supporting best practices
  • Celebrating marketplace role models, and
  • Denouncing substandard marketplace behavior

The stated purpose of the BBB educational foundation is "to provide consumer and public education on business ethics, exposing sub-standard marketplace behavior, and warning consumers, especially seniors and youth about prevalent marketplace scams."

The BBB's commitment to advancing marketplace trust shines brightly through the efforts of the BBB foundation. I continue to hear numerous stories of scam artists taking advantage of our senior citizens, our military families and other targeted consumer segments of the population. Together we can take action to prevent scams from affecting our friends and family. Moreover, the BBB foundation supports ethics education in such a comprehensive and innovative way! I'm proud and energized to be part of this movement for real change in our marketplace.
