The Circle is a non-profit newspaper that has been covering the Native American community in Minnesota for 30 years.
The Circle was started as an in-house publication of the Minneapolis American Indian Center in Minneapolis in 1980. Due to its popularity with the whole community it was expanded into a community newspaper. Since its inception The Circle has covered Native American news, arts, and issues from a Native perceptive, something lacking in the mainstream media. While the editors and offices of The Circle have changed over the years, the mission of The Circle remains the same. The Circle continues to cover news and Native arts and culture in Minnesota. The paper is delivered to all tribes in Minnesota and is distributed to over 200 free sites in the metro area. The Circle is currently one of a few non-tribally owned Native newspapers in the U.S., and the only non-tribally owned newspaper in Minnesota. In 2010 we celebrated 30 years of continuous service to the Native community of the Twin Cities and Minnesota's reservations.
