Surrounded by neighbors - three congregations in the Camden area of Minneapolis joined to help one person at a time: The Camden Promise.
The Camden Promise is a 501C-3 nonprofit partnership between Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Evangelist Temple and Brooklyn Center 7th Day Adventist congregations serving the Camden Community of Minneapolis.
Since 1893, Gethsemane Lutheran Church has served families in the Camden Community on the north side of Minneapolis. Over the years, changing community demographics created the opportunity for Gethsemane to share worship space with two other congregations: Evangelist Temple and Brooklyn Center 7th Day Adventist. Recognizing the significant needs of their community, these three congregations formed a unique, collaborative, partnership, The Camden Promise, a 501 (C) (3) nonprofit. The Camden Promise brings together the rich cultural heritage of these congregations - Latino, African American and Norwegian/European, for the purpose of serving some of the most basic needs of their surrounding neighbors as they model their name and tagline, The Camden Promise, Building Hope...Together.
The Camden Promise plans on engaging with our community around the issues of chronic un/underemployment. Give to the Max day supported our summer program, put food on the food shelf shelves, and helped to support the hiring of our executive director.
Won't you help us open this much-needed resource for our economically distressed neighborhood?
*BONUS - When you donate on Give to the Max Day, your name will be entered in a random drawing for a ticket to The Spirit Moves 2, a $50 value!!!
