Safety, shelter and support to women and their families affected by domestic violence, sexual assault and abuse.

Our mission is to provide safety, shelter and support to women and their families affected by domestic violence, sexual assault and abuse.

No one deserves, asks for, or provokes violence . . .

“I felt that I was losing my mind. I am not sure what I would have done without The Women’s Center. I gained strength and knowledge. They gave me encouragement, support, hope and a sympathetic ear.”

The Women’s Center has provided safety, shelter and support to women and their families affected by domestic violence, sexual assault and abuse for over 35 years.

“When I went to the shelter for five days that was the first time in months that I finally slept through the night because I really felt safe. I am so glad there is a Women’s Center, a shelter and other services to help people out. Being able to smile and laugh, having people believe in you, being able to make choices and not be afraid every day of your life is priceless.”

All services and programs are free of charge and include:

  • Emergency shelter
  • Transitional living
  • Group and individual counseling
  • Onsite childcare
  • Child abuse prevention programming
  • Legal advocacy
  • Employment counseling
  • Hispanic outreach,
  • Community education programs
  • Information and referral services
  • 24-hour confidential crisis line

“I started to understand it wasn’t my fault he kept hurting me…Finally, I wasn’t being judged! I went on to live in one of the houses in The Women’s Center transitional living program for two years and continued attending weekly support groups for four years.”

Each year over 9,000 individuals are served free of charge through a specially designed comprehensive range of services that emphasize prevention and breaking the cycle of violence.

“I learned so much from them. I developed trusting relationships that helped me excel. One of the most difficult things for someone in this situation is to trust. I am learning how to do that and so much more because of the help I received thirteen years ago.”

The Women’s Center offers an empowering, integrated network of programs where women build peaceful, productive futures for their families.

“You helped make it possible (referring to his high school graduation). I may not know your names but I’ll never forget your faces or the help you gave my family. We stayed at your shelter when I was young. I am seventeen now. Without your help I don’t know what my mom would have done.”

The Women's Center is a life-changing and life-saving place where staff and volunteers help women and their families build healthy lives free from violence.

“I have been using the tools and knowledge that I learned from The Women’s Center in my life. I will always be grateful to the Women’s Center and their staff for helping my family and I get our life back.”

When you give to The Women’s Center you are giving hope to women and children who often have nowhere else to turn.
