The Trust for Public Land conserves land for people to enjoy as parks, gardens, and natural places.

Our Mission

The Trust for Public Land conserves land for people to enjoy as parks, gardens, and other natural places, ensuring livable communities for generations to come.

Creating parks for people

Parks, trails, gardens, natural lands—places like these are more than points on a map. They are where memories live and possibilities thrive. They engage us body and spirit. And they can transform us, as individuals and as communities.

For 40 years, The Trust for Public Land has worked to enrich cities with parks, playgrounds, trails, gardens, and open spaces. We bring together civic leaders, agencies, neighbors, and donors to create these special places, which improve residents’ health, strengthen neighborhoods, and boost local economies.

A 10-minute walk

We believe that no American should live more than a 10-minute walk from a place to play, roam, plant a garden, or experience nature. Yet thousands of neighborhoods across the country do not meet this standard. We must do more.

And so we invite you to join us as we create more parks, trails, and open spaces in citiies large and small, where people can gather, play, and experience nature close to home.

Our impact

Since 1972, we have completed more than 5,200 park and conservation projects, conserved more than 3 million acres, and helped generate $33 billion in state and local conservation funding—all made possible by the generosity of supporters like you. Because we pool funds from many sources, every $1 donated to The Trust for Public Land conserves more than $4 worth of land.
