NCC is returning to Ocho Rios, Jamaica to work with Teen Challenge-a one year residential, faith-based rehabiliation program.
Where & why:
In February 2013, NCC will return to Teen Challenge in Ochos Rio, Jamaica to volunteer with young women struggling with addiction. Prostitution, abuse and heart ache have chipped away their feelings of self-worth. I want to bring hope to these beautiful and amazing young ladies who have experienced such hardship at a tender age.
Goals & projects:
Our team will help establish a pottery micro-enterprise that will serve two purposes; the first as a form of creative outlet therapy for the girls; and the second as a revenue source for the program. We are the Lord’s clay and He is constantly forming and shaping us into His image.
Jumping in a lake for funds:
For those of you who are jealous about the idea of Jamaica in February, my fundraising efforts should bring a smile to your face. Over the Christmas holiday, I plan on jumping into Pleasant Lake in New Hampshire as a way to raise funds for the mission trip. Friends, the Granite state is very cold in December and I’m praying that ice has not formed yet. Today, it is a chilly 20 degrees. I have a supporter who has agreed to match all donations up to $850. Photos and video will be posted on my facebook page.
