The Nature Conservancy in Nevada is the state chapter of The Nature Conservancy which is active in all 50 states and over 30 countries.

From Red Rock Canyon to Independence Lake, the Nevada Chapter of The Nature Conservancy and its partners have been protecting Nevada's Last Great Places since 1967. Among The Conservancy’s smaller chapters, the Nevada Chapter was its first to safeguard one million acres.

The mission of The Nature Conservancy is to preserve plants, animals and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth by protecting the lands and waters they need to survive. The Nature Conservancy is the leading conservation organization working around the world to protect ecologically important lands and waters for nature and people.

Projects in Nevada currently include:

  • Active restoration of over 10 miles of the Truckee River east of Reno including at the McCarran Ranch Preserve.
  • Active conservation and restoration work at the River Fork Ranch Preserve in the Carson Valley.
  • Active conservation and restoration work at the Independence Lake Preserve north of Truckee, CA.
  • Desert Tortoise habitat protection in Southern Nevada including at the Eglington Preserve.
  • Engaging with Nevada schools by working with partners to provide educational opportunities.

All of this work is made possible due to the generosity of supporters like you.
