A Neighborhood Free Library for Health in Middleton-- to promote good practice for personal and community wellness.
Steve Myrland would have us share what we learn, and that comes from inside and out. Our muscles "thank us," he says, when they are adapting to the activities in which they engage. We do well to mindfully try to balance the exchange of energy and information that keeps us as healthy as possible.
By "endowing" this Free Little Library, we honor the generosity and wisdom of an excellent teacher. The purpose is to share books and materials about sports, fitness, movement, health, self knowledge, motivation, physiology, coaching, performance and thoughtful approaches to physical activity.
The Library we support may look like the one in the picture or it may be custom built by an Amish carpenter or local craftsperson.
This first Little Free Library for Health will need a steady supply of the best writing you know of--favorite sports books and novels as well as educational and instructional pieces; inspiration for athletes young and old (is there such a thing?). In short, great reading for people of all ages and abilities. Anyone can contribute and everyone can benefit.
The key is that what we give or borrow from the this Little Library is freely exchanged; like the spirit and energy of the teacher in all of us. The goal is to set an example for many other similar Little Libraries around the world, starting here.
When we reach the financial goal of $600, watch what happens...and be a part of it!
