The Monica Jensen Foundation

Monica Jensen Foundation is a 501(c) (3) charitable non-profit organization whose purpose is to raise awareness, educate, and provide funding for research and treatment of Melanoma.

We are hoping to prove the old adage “there is strength in numbers.” The Monica Jensen Foundation would like to invite you to join our growing team in the fight against melanoma. Together, we can continue to raise awareness, educate and provide funding for the research and treatment of Melanoma, the purpose of the Monica Jensen Foundation. Your donation will allow us to continue growing and fighting against this terrible disease.

Monica Jensen was 33 years old when she passed on April 12, 2007, the result of melanoma. Approximately 68,720 new cases of Melanoma will be diagnosed this year, with nearly 8,650 resulting in death. Melanoma accounts for approximately 5% of skin cancer cases, but it causes more than 75% of skin cancer deaths. Research continues and is exploring new ways to prevent, find, and treat this terrible disease. Because of this research, people with Melanoma can look forward to a better quality of life and less chance of dying from this disease. However, this research needs funding, which we can all help make possible.

The Monica Jensen Foundation works hard to provide assistance where we are able. We hold an annual 5/10K run/walk in our community where we are able to bring everyone supporting the cause together. The event has been largely successful and has allowed the Monica Jensen Foundation the opportunity to make donations to the Rochester Mayo Clinic in Monica’s honor, provide scholarships to female athletes in our community who are active in the offered running clubs in their schools and to assist other families in our community as they fight their own battles against Melanoma.

The Monica Jensen Foundation will be holding our 4th annual 5/10K run/walk on June 5th, 2010 in Hudson Wisconsin. Your support as a donor will allow us to make sure this event is another success and will also allow us to ensure that we are able to KEEP FIGHTING THE FIGHT.
