An attempt on the 10 man, 1,000 mile World Record, running from Minneapolis, MN, to State College, PA: www.lifebackontrack.com for more.
On August 27th 2012, Ten years after Kevin died tragically in a pole vaulting accident, ten runners will attempt to run a 1000 mile relay World Record to celebrate Kevin’s life. From the vaulting pit at The University of Minnesota where Kevin lost his life, the runners will pass through six states on their way to The Pennsylvania State University, where Kevin grew up, went to school, and died proudly competing for.
The current World Record stands at 99 hours 3 minutes and 27 seconds. In honor of Kevin, and in the spirit of his competitiveness and ambition the runners will undertake a grueling non-stop schedule with the goal of not just surpassing this time, but demolishing it.
All money raised in support of this attempt will be used to support the new Kevin Dare Foundation mission: to provide University scholarships to high achieving high school athletes who have suffered a debilitating illness or injury. “Life… back on track” exemplifies this mission to help wonderful people that have suffered a tragic setback to achieve the high academic goals that they have set for themselves.
