The heart of 5 Loaves ministry is to feed children in developing nations
A project of 5 LOAVES MINISTRY INC
Do you realize that it only takes about 30 cents per day to feed a child in a developing nation
In August of 2005 God placed a desire in our hearts to establish and maintain feeding programs for hungry, under-nourished children in developing nations.
As we traveled throughout regions of Haiti and the Philippines, we discovered that many children were daily walking to school hungry and malnourished. Local schools were willing to feed their students, however they lacked the financial resources. Recognizing this need inspired our vision to provide a nutritious hot meal for school age children. Presently, 5 Loaves Ministry is partnered with local national ministries to achieve this goal. In Haiti we are working in conjunction with Haiti Endowment Fund (HEF) to provide daily hot meals at thirteen indigenous schools totaling 3000 children. In the Philippines we have two additional partners. The first is Peace Be with You Ministry in Davao this ministry is located in the southern area of the Philippines in the city of Davao. The Peace Be with You Ministry in Davao at present is caring for eighty five School children by providing a hot meal daily. Our newest ministry partner is MVP benevolence fund. They are located in Manila and share our vision of feeding undernourished children. The ministry there has already expanded to two additional locations.
These school feeding programs are having a positive social and economic impact on local communities by providing employment for cooks, kitchen helpers and regional food vendors.
The children are much healthier and happier, and their teachers say the children learn so much more with a healthy meal in their stomachs, the Doctors that make regular visits to examine the children would agree.
Looking beyond Haiti and the Philippines and into the rest of the world, we are excited to continue our existing partnerships and, as always, to look for new opportunities throughout the developing nations of the world.
