For 50 years, Franklin Ave & the surrounding neighborhood have been home to one of the Nation's largest urban American Indian populations.

Imagine!! Franklin Avenue as a vibrant destination linked to Light Rail Transit-an urban American Indian Cultural Corridor-that celebrates American Indian identity and stimulates economic opportunity. In this Cultural Corridor, American Indian people, community residents, and regional visitors come together to experience and engage with American Indian cultures in public gathering spaces, arts, Indian-owned businesses, restaurants, and interactive learning environments.

Imagine!! Window shoppers browsing the Corridor’s stores on their way to meet friends for dinner and to take in the latest Native exhibit at one of the Avenue’s galleries or a performance at the local American Indian café’s. Older students coast by on their bikes passing one of the Corridor’s community sculptures on their to way to class at the university. In the evening, families and friends of all backgrounds gather at the new landscaped park to enjoy the season, attend birthday parties, discuss current events and make plans to attend the upcoming annual community pow-wow. There is a palpable energy along the American Indian Cultural Corridor stemming from its daily social and recreational activity, local arts and commerce, diversity of residents and influx of visitors.

NACDI thanks you for your support as we move forward with implementing the community’s vision of the American Indian Cultural Corridor. In addition, your support will help launch the American Indian Cultural Corridor Sculpture Fund to commission the first permanent American Indian community sculpture on Franklin Avenue. All contributions welcome!

Together, we will make this vision a reality!
