Partner with me as I travel to Thailand to love Thai bar girls and sex workers in the same way that Jesus loved the woman at the well.
This February I have an amazing opportunity to travel to Thailand with a team from NCC to work with and support an organization called The Well. Each year thousands of girls in rural Thailand flock to Bangkok to work in clubs and brothels. My team will partner with The Well as they show the love of God to these girls the same way Christ loved "the woman at the well" in John 4. The Well provides counseling, training, job development and other services to women and their family members.
On this trip, my team and I will be serving in many different ways. NCC's approach to missions is taken from the verse Acts 1:8, which simply put means: ordinary people, empowered by God's Spirit, doing what Jesus did, together, wherever they are. That's exactly what we hope to do, simply be available to serve however we can. We will have the opportunity to interact with, encourage, and love on Thai women still trapped by the sex industry as well as those who have had the opportunity to escape. We will spend our days with the girls who are now living at The Well and will be going out at night into bars to talk with the girls who work there and hopefully introduce them to the ministry of The Well.
I am praying that God will use our time there to bless the women we come in contact with and the missionaries we will be working alongside. I pray that God will use me to communicate his message of grace, love and truth, not judgement. When I first thought of going on a trip with NCC this year, I never thought it would involve approaching women in a red light district. That scares me, but as I read through the website and blog and attended the information meeting, I could feel my heart breaking for these women. I am praying that this trip would be a time of intense spiritual growth for me and my team. I can't wait to see what God has planned for our time there. Please join me in prayer, and if led, financially as I embark on this journey. I can't do this alone!
