Promotes excellence and innovation in fiber art and honors textile traditions through exhibition and education programs for everyone.
“The interaction and presentation were very emotional for me…I at last feel able to say I am a fiber artist. Thank you for the validation.” — Art Cloth Symposium participant

Before Textile Center was formed, fiber artists and fiber art guilds in this region were a fragmented community. Most fiber artists operated in isolation and faced very limited opportunities to exhibit work or pursue advanced training. Textile Center has changed that. Its facility has become a dynamic center for fiber art that serves thousands of youth and adults each year.
Textile Center is a national leader in the field of fiber art and a destination for everyone who loves textiles. It encompasses all fiber art forms including weaving, quilting, knitting, sewing, dyeing, felting, needlework, lace making, spinning, basketry and beading.
Exhibitions in the Textile Center Joan Mondale Gallery showcase both mastery in technique and cutting-edge innovations in fiber art by artists locally, nationally, and internationally. Textile Center’s extensive education services include workshops, master classes, mentorships, summer camps, and symposia. From a child learning to knit to an experienced artist experimenting with new dye techniques, Textile Center serves people of all ages working at all artistic skill levels.
Textile Center is renowned for its facility resources. Its library houses the largest circulating collection of fiber art resources in the country with more than 23,000 items. Its professionally equipped dye lab enables students and artists to learn dye techniques and undertake ambitious dye projects in a safe environment. Altogether, Textile Center’s resources and programs are advancing the creative development of fiber artists and giving people of all ages and backgrounds opportunities to explore fiber art.
