As Captain, I share in the challenge of raising $100K by May 1, 2013! A team effort - even if I am saving my knees for the tennis court!
Tenacity's Board, staff, volunteers, marathon team and students wish to express our deepest condolences to those who have lost loved ones today and to express our regret and prayers to those who are suffering from the tragic events that unfolded at the finish-line during the 117th running of the Boston Marathon.
I am delighted to be overseeing the BAA Charity Program for Tenacity, which has opened the door to our raising upwards of $100,000 in nine months, largely from a constituency base to whom we have not yet been exposed.
The opportunity to apply to the BAA and introduce Tenacity to the culture of long distance running through the Boston Marathon® really resonated with me. As a 20 year resident of Hopkinton and two-time runner of Boston, I have lived in the excitement of the Boston Marathon® from start-to-finish for many years. As a decade-long volunteer for Tenacity and six-year Board Member, my commitment to supporting the programs that Tenacity provides is steadfast.
So when I became aware of the Boston Marathon® Official Charity program, I jumped in feet first to share in this exciting event, to reconnect my life with long distance running and to bring my friends from Tenacity into the excitement of another life-long, international sport.
game. set. RUN.
