My goal is to promote the mission of Tenacity through running the 2013 Boston Marathon. Please help me meet my fundraising goal!

Tennis has always been an important part of my life, and more recently, running has played a bigger role. The opportunity to combine these two passions to run the 2013 Boston Marathon as part of the Tenacity Team is one that I'm tremendously excited for. Our Tenacity marathon team has pledged to raise $100,000 in support of Tenacity's programs. Help me and my team reach our goal as we prepare for the Boston Marathon 2013!

Tenacity is a non-profit organization that strives to improve the scholastic, character and physical development of urban youth through the coupling of tennis instruction and academic support, with a focus on life skills. Tenacity provides a pathway to excellence with literacy, life-skills & fitness/tennis instruction that enables under-served urban youth to engage in safe, healthy and challenging programs that teach and breed success.

Tenacity’s Pathway to Post Secondary Success begins in their Elementary School Program where they teach tennis at four Boston Public Schools (BPS) to 4th and 5th graders as part of their school-day physical education. From there students are recruited into Middle School Academy (MSA), the core of their programs, where they deliver a supplemental English Language Arts (ELA) curriculum and combine it with tennis/fitness, team tennis and life skills. MSA graduates are automatically enrolled in College Prep where dedicated Tenacity staff focus on their needs in achieving high school success - diplomas, scholarships, college acceptances or other approved post secondary pursuits. Their post secondary students, many of whom are first generation high school graduates and college students, benefit from Alumni Services where they offer continued leadership, mentoring and group activities. Most of their 1,000 Pathway students enjoy their Summer Tennis & Reading Program as participants, volunteers or employees. The summer program serves 5,000 Boston kids every July and August.

I am thrilled to be running my first marathon as part of the Tenacity Team, as I believe that their programs successfully impact at-risk children in Boston.
