We are raising funds for the Childhood RND Educational Foundation, INC.
I went to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) when I was 15 years old to help me finally get rid of my pain which I had been suffering from for 2 years because of CRPS or Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. This program saved my life! I spent over 2 years travelling around the country going through horrible treatments, invasive procedures and taking strong pain medications and nothing worked; most only made my situation worse. All of the treatments, as it turned out, were unnecessary and many were dangerous leading to terrible side effects which I am still dealing with today. Because this disease is so rare I would like to help bring awareness to other families like mine so they can find programs like CHOP in order to avoid making the mistakes we made.
One way I am doing this is by having my family join me in participating in the Amplified Musculoskeletal Pain Syndrome (AMPS) 5k fun run/walk hosted by CHOP in Philadelphia on December 1st .This fun run/walk will benefit the Childhood RND Educational Foundation, Inc. which was formed to educate health professionals and the lay population about the characteristics and treatment of RND and other Amplified Musculoskeletal Pain Syndromes in children. (By the way, RND, AMPS and RSD are other names for CRPS.) The walk/run will help bring awareness about this amazing program run by Dr. David Sherry to families nationwide and will raise funds for educational material about this disease.
CHOP is trying to raise $50,000 for this foundation during the 5k. I realize this is short notice, but any help would be great. You can donate and sponsor Team Devin if you would like to help support this program which is helping many children like myself regain their lives.
Thanks for your support!
