Getting ready for a run!

Girls on the Run is a fantastic program that I have been a part of for 3 seasons now. The Girls on the Run kids make me smile everyday!

I started coaching with Girls on the Run because I missed teaching. I love my Tuesdays and Thursdays with these girls. They are goofy and happy and full of life. They never cease to amaze me with how encouraging they are to each other when running or doing any of the activities that we do. Last week we were acting out 'peer pressure' in front of each other. The girls all clapped and congratulated each other after every skit.

Our GOTR team wanted to give back to the community, so they are doing a penny drive in their school so they can raise money to buy trees and plant them in the neighborhood and, if they raise enough money, they want to buy a gift for another Girls on the Run team to give them at our Lollipop 5K at the end of the season. I can't wait to see these tiny little 8 year old digging holes to put in trees in North Beach!

Girls on the Run gives girls an opportunity to learn about friendship, teamwork and positive self esteem. And of course to be silly in each others' company!

I thank you for any donation small or large! It is certainly going to a good cause!
