Tapestry meets urgent community health needs around family planning, sexual health, substance misuse and childhood nutrition in Western MA.

Your gift to Tapestry Health is more important than ever. Here's how we'll put your donation to work:

Family Planning

Of our 6,800 annual reproductive health patients, 95% report incomes at the level of poverty or bare subsistance.

Your gift keeps our vital clinics operating. With same or next-day appointments, the ability to accept walk-ins, sliding-scale services, and offices throughout the area, Tapestry provides affordable, culturally-sensitive care locally and immediately.

Substance Misuse

From 2000 to 2012 the number of fatal opioid overdoses in Massachusetts increased by 90%. In 2013 the death rate in Hampshire County was 42% higher than that of the state, with similar numbers in Hampden county.

Give to support community trainings that help save lives. We have trained 3,000 people in overdose education and Narcan distribution, including over 200 first responders in Hampshire and Franklin counties. 350 people have reported back to us that Narcan was used to reverse an overdose. More communities need training on how to recognize opioid use, how to respond to a potentially fatal overdose and who to contact for help if a loved one is abusing opioids.

Sexual Health and Harm Reduction

HIV/AIDS continues to impact our region. Holyoke has the second highest infection rate in MA. Springfield ranks second in the state in number of people living with HIV/AIDS. While this disease impacts everyone, we know that populations experiencing poverty, homelessness and addiction are particularly at risk.

Your gift keeps Tapestry a strong, caring presence in these communities. We provide rapid HIV testing, outreach and education, risk reduction and prevention counseling, support programs, referrals for addiction treatment and much more, with the goal of improving the well-being of at-risk populations.

Childhood Nutrition

In Massachusetts, 1 in 5 children live in households that cannot afford enough food. Food insecurity increases the risk of diabetes, anemia, depression and other complications for pregnant moms. Kids without enough food are developmentally at-risk from birth: more chronic health problems, higher rates of hospitalization and behavioral problems, and poor cognitive development.

Your gift increases access to healthy food and provides nutrition and breastfeeding education to hundreds of young families in Hampden County. With two WIC nutrition offices in Springfield and one in West Springfield, Tapestry is dedicated to the health of pregnant and breastfeeding women and children under the age of five. You can help us reduce the devastating and unnecessary impact of hunger on families in our area.
