We Went, We Saw...

In January 2012, Gulf Winds had several memebers go to Colombia and see for ourselves where the money we raise would be going and the need that was there. The experiance was moving...there is a great need for places that children can be taken in, protected, and cared for. Many children that are left to themselves on the streets are taken by drug lords, forced into prostitution or die from neglect.

On their trip, our members saw a young girl sits outside of the local orphanage listening to the music. Unfortunately limited space and resources limit the number of children that can be helped and not all children can be taken in.

In America, you really cannot understand the level of poverty that exists outside of what we have seen and know. What we consider poverty here would be considered a luxury in the slums of Colombia and other countries like it.
