SustainUS is a nonprofit, youth-led organization that empowers young people to advance sustainable development
Through tens of thousands of volunteer hours over the past twelve years, young people have built SustainUS into a volunteer-led non-profit organization that is addressing some of the most daunting social and environmental challenges of our time. While we have always managed to have a big impact on a shoe-string budget, activities like holding trainings and offering need-based travel scholarships are not possible without the generosity of supporters like you.

WHAT WE DO
SustainUS was founded on the idea that youth have a powerful voice in shaping the course of the world. For over ten years we have been empowering youth to advance sustainability from the local to the international level. Currently, we have three programs led and run by our all-volunteer youth Steering Committee.
The Agents of Change program sends youth to major UN conferences on climate change, sustainable development, social development, women, and biological diversity. At these conferences, SustainUS delegations work with civil society and hundreds of young people from across the globe to advocate for robust sustainable development policies.
The Citizen Science Paper Competition encourages and recognizes original research by young scientists. By providing the opportunity for youth to publish and present their work, this annual competition aims to bridge the gap between science and policy.
The Lead Now Fellowship, trains, supports, and inspires youth to become leaders in advancing sustainable development. We offer a small group of fellows individualized mentorship, trainings, and resources to develop their leadership skills and apply them to a sustainable development initiative that they are leading.
Energy Justice Summer is working to stop fracking in Pennsylvania, in partnership with the Energy Justice Network.
Through proactive education, research, advocacy, and leadership we are young people building a future in which all people recognize the inherent equality and interdependence of social, economic, and environmental sustainability.
