Discovery Gateway children's museum is a hands-on, supportive environment where children and their grown-ups can learn and play together.

As Discovery Gateway's Science Program Coordinator I promote science inquiry utlizing informal methods.

DG is part of iSEE; a collaborative partnership between 6 Utah musuems and the USOE. We support the Utah State Science Core Curriculum for 5th grade matter while providing unique opportunities not typically available in the classrooms. Our goal this year is to visit 538 public and charter schools throughout the state of Utah; in all districts.

DG doesn't just provide science to 5th graders- but students of all ages and varieties. We hold CSI (Curious Science Investigators) every Saturday at 1, 3 & 5pm here in the Workshop Room. Each month has a topic which is explored through a new experiment each Saturday. Our goal in this workshop (ages 4+) is to utlize kitchen chemistry; designed to be an experimental and hands-on approach to science using hosehold items. This technique empowers parents and their children to not only explore science using familiar items, but to realize chemistry is everywhere and can be done at any time.
