By donating you will make a difference, and help many young adults who are passionate about giving back to the community achieve that goal.

As many of you guys know I am applying to graduate school this fall to obtain my Masters in Public Administration with a concentration in non-profit organizations. This effort is in order to achieve my future endeavors of becoming the CEO of my own non-profit. Throughout my life I always wanted to give back, make a difference, and make a substantial impact in our society. As a result, I have taken many opportunities and will continue to, so that I can gain more hands-on experience in order to cultivate myself to become a good leader, and empower individuals to want to give back to society. Interning at various non-profits and being involved in community service activities has shown me the value of public service and the lasting impression that one receives when you change someone's life. This spring break I have been chosen to be an Alternative Spring Break leader. With this opportunity I and other individuals will spend our spring break aiding New Orleans and those still affected by Hurricane Katrina 5 years ago. This experience will not only benefit me and my development, but with your help you can aide our members in making a difference in New Orleans and our community.

Organization Information

Mission
United Way of North Central Florida was founded in 1957 (as United Way of Alachua County) to increase the organized capacity of people to care for one another. United Way organizes experienced community volunteers to raise and distribute Community Care Fund contributions to local human care agencies. We also provide community support, promote community collaboration and offer technical assistance to non-profit organizations. We support a variety of local human service agencies that touch the lives of thousands of people in our community. These local agencies provide invaluable services including hot, nutritious meals to homebound seniors; shelter and safety for victims of domestic violence; emergency relief for families in need; and safe after-school activities for children.
