Your donations will make it possible for me to bring hope and God's love to people around the world in a variety of ways. Read more below.
I have spent the past two years as a missionary teacher in Kenya, Africa. Now God is calling me to The World Race, an 11 month mission trip to 11 different countries.
Although it seems like I have just arrived, God is calling me back to the mission field. This time I’m called to a broader field. Matthew 28:19-20 says, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." In January of 2010, I will begin the World Race, an 11-month mission trip to 11 different countries. Each destination will stretch and challenge me with different types of mission work, which may include AIDs education in Africa, building churches, working in orphanages and job skills training for women who are part of the sex slave trade in southeastern Asia. I am very excited to see how God will use me to reach a wide variety of people in many ways.
I’d like for you to be a part of this ministry with me. I know that many of you are not able to set aside their life for 11 months to do mission work, but there are numerous ways to be involved. Most importantly, I will need prayer warriors who will lift my ministry up in prayer. Secondly, this ministry will not be possible without financial support. The total cost is $14,300. Tax-deductable* donations can be made monthly or as one-time gifts. While I am on the mission field I will be keeping a blog (http://courtneyfolwick.theworldrace.org). I also need people who will encourage me through notes or comments. I hope many of you will be able to follow my ministry as God leads me to do His work. Here is a look at what type of ministry I plan on doing over the next year…
In New Zealand we will speak the truth and reclaim the atheistic Maori people for Christ. Then, in Australia we will partner with churches and missionaries who are spreading the hope of Christ to the rich and poor alike. Next, in Malaysia we will focus on Islam outreach in the thriving city of Kuala Lampur. I anticipate that the work in Thailand will be the most challenging and rewarding. There we will be reaching out to the darkest of spiritual environments to share what is most needed: hope. We’ll do this through helping women who are part of the sex slave trade learn practical vocational skills and providing an alternative form of income. Then, I’ll be in my comfort zone of working with kids when we go to Cambodia and reach out by holding orphans that are born into a new era, meeting felt needs in some of the worst slums in the world and church-planting with an adolescent generation on the verge of religious revolution. Leaving southeastern Asia, we head to my home away from home: Kenya. Here we will be working among the people in the Masai bush, the Nairobi metropolis, or the Kiberra slums. Next, we head to Uganda to focus on evangelism, church planting and discipleship. During our time in Uganda we will be praying for God’s direction for a new field of ministry in Eastern Africa for the next month. My hope at this point is to work with displaced people. Next it is off to Eastern Europe to minister among the gypsy people of Romania. Teaching English, leading sports camps, and planting churches are but a few of the tasks. Then, in the Ukraine we will be a part of a revolution, taking back a region from the bondage of Islam and other folk religions. Before heading home to the US we will again be asking the Lord for a new field of ministry, this time in Eastern Europe.
Perhaps one of these needs touches your heart in a special way. Consider funding a month’s ministry with a one-time donation of $1,300. Another option is to make monthly donations to be a part of all these ministries. All it will take is 13 people who commit to donating $100 a month. Of course, a donation of any size will make a difference. It is amazing to think how God can use your donation to help change the world.
