I (Stu) wrote in the margin of my Bible on my birthday in 2007, “I want to spend the rest of my life coaching, training, teaching, mentoring, and sometimes preaching.” Having completed much of what we set out to do when we moved to Singapore in 2008, God has been leading us to explore new ministry horizons. When Hilary found the job description (online) for the trainer role at OM Life hope she exclaimed, “Stu, this is you!” We really believe God has led us to this timely connection with OM Lifehope and that he has specially prepared us to make a significant contribution to an already impactful ministry.

We believe our gifting and passion really complements OM Lifehope’s high-caliber multinational training team. Our role will involve significant opportunities for coaching, training, teaching, and mentoring—exactly the things I’m gifted at and passionate about. Additionally, we will have opportunities to help with ongoing review and revision of the training curriculum, as well as bringing in a number of resources from our 10+ years equipping pastors in Asia. As our kids become more and more independent, there will also be new collaborative opportunities for Hilary with myself and the rest of the training team. We believe this new role is an excellent fit for both of us, and that God will also provide a nurturing environment for our family in the UK.

We will also be involved in supporting a local church-planting consortium in the Birmingham, UK area called 2020 Birmingham. There are already eight new church plants at various stages of birthing, and a vision to plant a total of 20 new churches in the Birmingham area by the year 2020. As far as we know, this is the first locally birthed non-denominational church-planting consortium in the UK—one that could become a model for the rest of the country!
