REDA's streetscape program seeks to engage local owners, residents, & stakeholders in the improvement of public spaces in District del Sol.

Programs:

Public Art REDA has led efforts in partnership with other West Side community groups to celebrate the West Side neighborhood through public art installation since the 1980’s. In 2010 the Midwest Canto Pueblo mural, which is the most decayed and beloved mural on the neighborhood, was transformed into a more sustainable mosaic title installation through the engagement of 67 community members! In 2011, REDA will restore several public art pieces through its "Save West Side Art!" program, as well as install public art garbage cans throughout District del Sol.

Beautification Days Throughout the summer, West Side community members pitch in to beautify public spaces . Activities include litter pick up, spring garden prep, painting projects, and other service projects in the West Side community. Last year, clean up efforts led to removal of over 100 bags of litter, 40 bags of brush from community gardens, and painting of a public plaza, park benches, and picnic tables!

Blooming District del Sol Blooming District del Sol has engaged over 50 youth and adults to plant 1,000 flowers in 3 community gardens that anchor the entry ways of the District del Sol Commercial Corridor. All materials and labor for the gardens are donated by community residents and businesses. In addition, over 50 hanging flower baskets decorate the light posts of Cesar Chavez through REDA's efforts.
