Running the NYC Marathon to raise $10,000 for the Ubuntu Education Fund. Help Ubuntu finish an HIV clinic for kids, and me break 4 hours!

I am running the NYC marathon to raise funds for the Ubuntu Education Fund. Ubuntu is an amazing organization that is truly changing the lives of some of the most vulnerable children in South Africa.

As most of you know, last year I ran the Comrades Ultra Marathon in South Africa to benefit Ubuntu. The support that you provided to me and Ubuntu was overwhelming and made a big difference. The $50,000 we raised was used to complete the new Ubuntu Centre, a photo of which is attached.

On November 6 I will be running the New York City Marathon to help raise funds for Ubuntu's new HIV Pediatric Clinic. Whereas in the Comrades I was going for distance (89km, 57 miles), my goal for the NYC is speed, with a stretch goal of under 4 hours.

For more on the HIV Pediatric Clinic: The pediatric HIV clinic is the first of it’s kind in the region. It is a world-class health facility where Ubuntu provides life-saving medical services to any child who needs it. By contributing towards my marathon campaign, you will directly support the operations of the clinic; ensuring thousands of children have access to life-saving medical care.

For more on the Ubuntu Education Fund:
Ubuntu Education Fund, is an organization with the goal of transforming the lives of children in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Ignoring traditional development models, they redefine the theory of “going to scale”; rather than expanding geographically, Ubuntu drew a seven-kilometer radius around a community of 400,000 people. Ubuntu has created an integrated system of medical, health, educational, and social services that ensures a child who is either orphaned or vulnerable could, after several years, succeed in the world of higher education and employment. For even more information on Ubuntu, check out their website: www.ubuntufund.org.

Help by donating or just sending this to your friends! And THANK YOU!!!
