Steve Franks' 2010 'Road to Hope' Page
Steve Franks fundraising for Law Enforcement United, Inc.
Law Enforcement United raises funds for Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) and the Officer Down Memorial Page (ODMP).
On May 10, 2010 I, along with thirty other officers from Minnesota will begin a 250 mile journey on bicycles. The ride will begin in Chesapeake, VA and we will ride to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington D.C. on May 12. On May 13 we will attend a candlight vigil and be joined by family members of the 125 officers who were killed in the line of duty during 2009. As a member of the Rochester, MN Police Honor Guard (and bagpiper) I attended three funerals for Minnesota officers that lost their lives last year. According to Jennifer Thacker the C.O.P.S. President, "With every officer that is killed in the line of duty there are an estimated 12 people directly and adversley affected by their death. That's nearly 2000 people each year that are forced into the throws of traumatic grief following a line of duty death." My goal is to raise $750 in pledges to have the honor of participating in this ride, remembering my fallen brothers and sisters and supporting their families through these two great organizations (C.O.P.S. and ODMP).
