Star of the North Humane Society started helping animals in 1978 and officially organized in 1980. For more than 34 years, we have served Itasca County, as well as areas of bordering counties where there are no available animal shelters or humane societies. We are currently a non-sheltering organization. Our focus is to spay or neuter as many cats and dogs as possible whether they currently have an owner or not. Through the unwavering dedication of a small group of volunteers we have helped many wonderful dogs, cats, puppies and kittens.
