Our focus is to provide academic support for students in grades K-12 to promote a culture of academic excellence.

What can you do with $650? Springfield School Volunteers (SSV) can create and support a match between a caring adult mentor and a Springfield student for an entire school year. With the help of your contributions on this day of charity, SSV will have the dollars necessary to maintain a quality-based mentoring program through our relationship with Mass Mentoring Partnership (MMP) and will be able to increase the number of mentor matches made to benefit at-risk students in the Springfield Public Schools (SPS).

SSV mentors have reported improvement not only in the academic interest and performance of their mentees, but also positive growth in their social skills and confidence levels. Last school year 80% of middle school students with mentors through SSV had an overall attendance rate higher than the average attendance rate of SPS middle school students and higher than the overall attendance rate in the district. 47.6 % of our mentees showed improved attendance from semester one to semester two. And 97% of the mentees in our program successfully transitioned from one grade to the next. By having a positive impact on just one student’s attendance, mentors have a positive effect on learning in the classroom for all students. Help us to impact more Springfield youth by contributing to our cause through Valley Gives on 12.12.13.
