The SPCA of Northern Nevada is celebrating 13 years of bringing people and pets together the area's pioneer “no-kill” animal shelter.

The SPCA, founded in 1998, is Reno's original no-kill animal shelter. Our primary mission is to rescue animals from our municipal shelter and provide them with second chances to find loving, forever homes.

The SPCA difference

  • We are privately funded and can be selective about the animals we bring into the shelter.
  • We take more at-risk animals with health or behavioral issues facing euthanasia.
  • We provide increased individual attention to all of our animals and volunteers.
  • Knowing the animals personally allows us to make the best possible match between animal and adopter.
  • We make a lifetime commitment to every animal we shelter.
  • Our staff is highly trained and committed to providing the best experience to the community.
  • We are developing many new programs to educate our community.
  • We test all of our Felines for FELV/FIV.

    Thanks for smokey (who we got in 2004) although he was quite crippled at that time, he has fully recovered and his baby sister has trouble keeping up with him now.

    i have adopted many animals both cats and dogs. they have given my family many pleasures and my children have learn to take care of them. As of right now we have 3 cats and 3 dogs. thank you for all you do for the animals that is resuce and saved.
