"Southwest Airlines MIT Class of 2012 Shares our Spirit" to help the SHARED HOUSING CENTER INC of Dallas provide shelter for the homeless.
"You are not here merely to make a living. You are here in order to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world, and to impoverish yourself if you forget the errand." - Woodrow Wilson
We are a class of Southwest Employees who have come together to grow as professional adults. As part of that growth, we are giving back to the community through fundraising and volunteerism.
The organization we have chosen to support, Shared Housing Center, helps provide shelter for the homeless in Dallas - they believe that a home is more than just a roof and four walls. Please help us create a comfortable environment for these families and children who are starting over and have very few of the household possessions that most of us take for granted on a daily basis.
Shared Housing Center was created in 1984 to provide and facilitate affordable housing options. Their mission is to offer housing options and supportive services that foster independence, empowerment, and self-worth and to serve a multicultural, intergenerational population. Since the organization's inception, they have offered housing and services to critically at-risk populations -- older adults, single parents with young children, and persons with special needs -- seeking to elevate themselves from homeless and near homeless situations to lifestyles of relative self-sufficiency.
