Southern Maryland Tri-County Community Action Committee, Inc. (SMTCCAC) started providing grassroots anti-poverty services in Charles, Calvert and St. Mary's Counties in 1965 as part of "America's War on Poverty." Although living conditions have improved for the vast majority of residents, many still struggle to improve their standard of living.

SMTCCAC's programs reflect the needs of the community -Child and Family Services, Career Training, Energy Assistance, Adult Day Care, Housing Services, Transportation, Senior Services, AmeriCorps, and Emergency Food Assistance.
